Gathering

                                                                 Good morning!

It is a beautiful sunny autumn day here again with the promise of a beautiful holiday weekend. We have several tours from Japan in the next few days before wrapping up our season and putting the garden to bed. Doesn't seem like yesterday we were looking forward to those first blooms.? Don't worry in no time we will be doing that again. It is definitely true that the older we get time goes by.

Anyway, it is the season to gather in some garden goodness to enjoy over the months ahead. I love to pick some of my hydrangeas to have indoors as they dry so nicely. Just put them in a vase with a couple of inches of water and leave them to dry while enjoying their beauty.

We have lots of hydrangeas in different shades.

Don't they look pretty in the vintage McCoy vases..
A little late blooming David phlox in with the hydrangea.

This fall blooming monkshood is just coming into bloom-love it's
late season color with the burning bushes , asters and sedums.
A late summer bouquet of wildflowers that I gathered on our morning walk a few weeks                       ago but didn't have a chance to share as I had computer issues.

And as a bonus for you today this basket of goodies- what could be sweeter than these two puppies?       They are Bernese Mountain puppies that came to visit with their sweet owner my friend Snow.

Autumn Brilliance

                                                          Happy Weekend!

This week we had some beautiful sunny autumn days so it was lovely to be
outdoors enjoying the beauty of the golden light and the brilliance of the autumn colors
the trees and shrubs etc. are starting to take on.
Our sumacs are one of the first shrubs to turn red with yellow here.

I set a small table out by the sumacs so we could enjoy their vibrant color
as the leaves won't last long on them.

A nice place to read a book ~warm and comfy.

It will be a week or two before autumn is in full glory here but I am not trying
to rush the season as time flies fast enough!

                          Thank you for visiting,

Red & White Vintage Laundry Day

                                                                Good Morning!
It is laundry day here and I am sharing some vintage style today.
I love the vintage red and white quilt on the line with the old vintage red chair
and red wire basket ~ alas, they are not mine but a friends who knows how I
love props-thank you,Sharon!I promise I will give them back before I wear them
                  out.

The toile quilts are not vintage but have a vintage look....and they are mine.
I love how some of the roses put on a bit of a second show and
it is a treat to pick them for a small bouquet for the house.
This is a David Austen English Rose but I have forgotten the name.

These roses are blooming beside the clothesline and are the hardy
                           red grootendorst.
I couldn't resist adding the pretty red lantern.

Hope you have as much fun doing laundry as I do!

Thank you for your visit and hope you have a great weekend.

An Autumn Picnic

                                                           Hello everyone,
These beautiful autumn days are perfect for a little picnic by our pond ~ can you

join me?  How about a glass of organic hot apple cider?
If you find it a little cool, grab a nice wool throw and get cosy!
Candle light as the sun sets earlier now!

Every picnic needs some flowers- asters and hydrangeas.

A picnic basket for our goodies ~ your bringing those right???

Let's sit for awhile longer and enjoy the peacefulness.
Hope you are enjoying these beautiful autumn days!

A Cosy Autumn Tea

Welcome October!

We have had some beautiful autumn days lately and so it is lovely to be outdoors
soaking up some sunshine and enjoying the fall colors that are appearing more
and more each day.

I have a cosy place for my autumn tea out on the veranda. This chaise
came from The Bay several years ago and it is a very comfortable place to enjoy
a book and a cup of tea. If you linger until it gets cool you can snuggle in with
a wool plaid throw or two.The wooden bucket on the floor came from the
70 mile yard sale this year ~ $8.
The needlepoint pillow was another find there this year ~ $4.
The pretty chintz tea cup was last years find at the yard sale.
I think I could have a nap right here!

Hope you have a wonderful day!
