In the Bleak Midwinter

           Hello everyone,

It has been cold here the past few days but still

there is so much beauty to enjoy all

around us.

                                                          I have to admit I love a nice snow cover
                                                         in the winter and it is good protection for
                                                         my plants in the garden.

                                                I took this shot of our little boathouse by the pond
                                                          a few days ago. Speaking of our pond I plan to don my
                                                          skates this afternoon and enjoy the crisp fresh air of
                                                          winter........anyone care to join me?

Antique Transferware Tea Time

                                                                  On this cold January day it is I am
                                                                  enjoying staying indoors with a cup
                                                                  of hot white chocolate for my afternoon
                                                                  tea break.
                                                                        The antique teapot above is another one
                                                                  of my treasures from an antique mall in
                                                                  Wells Maine. It is very old and does have
                                                                  some fine cracks in it but I love it anyway.

                                                                Did I already brag that a booth at
                                                                the antique mall had just marked
                                                                everything 75% off and the prices were
                                                                reasonable before the markdown.I was
                                                                like a child in a toy store as I happily
                                                                filled the cart! Yep! I am greedy but
                                                               I will share them with you!

                                                        I love to have a bouquet or two of flowers
                                                       in the house for a little garden cheer.

                                                                 In case you wanted to know ......the teapot
                                                                 manufactures.

                                                               These cookies were a gift to me....sweet!

                                Well, I am off for my walk but on this cold but sunny day it will
                                            be indoors at the gym. then off to visit my sweet Mama.

Random Mosaics

                                                                      Yesterday we had a good
                                                                       blanket of snow so I took
                                                                       a few shots around our home.

                                                             Last night our snow turned to rain
                                                             so we lost a lot of the snow already.
                                                             However, it is cold and windy out
                                                             there now, so it a very different
                                                             winter then last year ~ so far.

                                                   Some of my new transferware pieces
                                                  that I got on our last trip to Maine.

                                                              right in Maine.

                                                     The Boathouse is still decorated for Christmas but
                                                     I did take down almost all the Christmas stuff in the
                                                     house.

                                  I took these shots yesterday to capture the snow out the windows.

Friendly Village

                                                        I hope 2015 is off to a great start
                                                        for you. I enjoyed a lazy weekend
                                                        and have not even put away my
                                                        Christmas stuff yet.....mainly because
                                                        I am still enjoying it. We got
                                                        several cm. of snow here so now
                                                        it looks like winter!

                                                      I always put my Friendly Village dishes
                                                      on display for the Christmas/winter season.

                                                                   Like all my collections they are
                                                                     a mix and match.

                                                              My newest addition is this $5. teapot.

                                                        I love this photo of a painting done by my
                                                        talented artist friend Heather. It is of an old
                                                       stone house not far from here and how perfect to have
                                                       a field of sheep beside it.

                                                                      Heather also made these sheep cookies for me.

                                                                 They are perfect with a cup of tea.

                             So, it is back to school for the kiddos as the holiday
                                        season comes to a close. I really enjoyed it all
                                        but it is also nice to look forward to our little
                                        winter routine as we settle into January.

                                                                       Happy New Year!

                                             The tables are set and there are gently falling snowflakes
                                             coming down outside. The pond is froze solid enough for a skating
                                             party before our potluck dinner.

                                                               My amaryllis makes a bright and
                                                               pretty addition to our centerpiece.

                                                                       Just waiting for the arrival of our family.

                                        Last night we had six of our grandchildren over
                                                   for the night and after lots of fun and giggles it was
                                                   time to settle in for the night. As,some were settling into
                                                   sleep and I am laying with Lila and her brother I hear
                                                   a big sigh from Lila (above) as she says" worst New Years
                                                   ever...everyone is just going to go to sleep!" Oh! Lila it is
                                                   11 o'clock and you are only 5 years old! We had a good
                                                   laugh over our little drama queen. I hope your New Year
                                                   got off to a better start then Lila's!
