Teacups & Roses

                                                                   Hello everyone,
It is a beautiful day here with a definite touch of fall in the air. I have lots of photos to                               share with you but I got a new computer and my photos have not been transferred yet
so I hope you will enjoy another cup of tea with me with some of our garden roses.
I love this teacup from Winners-it seems to speak of autumn to me.It is a Rose Cameo                                Peach by Royal Albert.
The roses are a David Austen English rose - Golden Celebration.
Have an oatmeal scone with some of my peach preserves. This is one
of my favorite things-as good as a dessert and healthier.
The tea set is Wild Rose by Skye Mc Ghie

Hopefully, I get my computer all up and running soon and can share more with you soon. In the meantime I am looking forward to our annual 70 mile yard sale this Saturday - hoping for a nice day and some pretty treasures to take home.
Thank you for your visit and welcome to my new followers.

Get Comfy & Cosy

                                                              Hello everyone,
With the cooler days of Autumn it is nice to take a relaxing afternoon tea
in the comfort of home.We have had some cooler days and evenings here,
but also some warm muggy days ~ typical for our Island September weather.

So, on a cool day it was nice to have tea on the chaise in the bay window
                               looking out into the garden.
A nice cup of tea and a good book makes for a lovely tea break don't you think?                                       When I was growing up I remember my Mom always freshened up in the middle of the                                  afternoon and sat down to enjoy a nice cup of tea and maybe a letter from                                                   home(Holland).
It was a habit that stayed with her and even now she still enjoys a little cup of tea.

The sun popped out and warmed things up a bit!
Hope you enjoyed a nice little break in your busy day!

Today, I am joining Rose Chintz Cottage for Tea Time Tuesday.

                                                                Thank you for visiting,

Garden Vignettes and Family Fun Night

Hello everyone,
I hope you week is going well. Even though I haven't been posting here quite as much lately,I have been taking lots of photos so today I am sharing a few that I took in the last couple of weeks.

The door step on the boathouse vignette.

Soon,I will take some photos of the inside to share with you.
A pretty bouquet of what is blooming in the garden now.
Pretty pink geraniums.

                                                        A beautiful dalhia.
This foxglove was a late bloomer.
Last year I bought a couple of Strawberry Vanilla hydrangeas and I am very pleased with them. They are heavy bloomers already and I love how early in the season they are two toned white with pink before turning a deep pink by the end of August.
Setting up our garden table for family fun night.
Some of our grandchildren enjoying splashing their feet in the pond.
Family fun nights sure are fun!

Relax by the pond for awhile-where did those little ducks go?

Thank you for visiting!

Make your own Silver Wind Chimes

Hello everyone,

I thought you might like to see these pretty wind chimes that make a lovely sound in
the garden on a breezy day.
All you need is a pretty silver sugar bowl, teapot or creamer and some old silver flatware.
With a metal drill bit make 5 small holes in the bottom of the silver piece and the top of the silver flatware,
then use fishing line , thread each flatware piece though the hole and tie tightly then push the other end of the line  through the hole in the silver dish and  through a small button - up one side and down the other-then tie a tight knot and do the same with the rest of the flatware. The flatware on this one hangs below the creamer about 4 inches. Drill a small hole in the top of each side of the creamer and put a strong piece of fishing thread through it long enough to hang down from a tree etc. tie it tightly and you are good to go!

It looked pretty hanging in the elderberry bush and sounded good too!

Just as pretty though in the limelight hydrangea.

                                              The birds love these elderberries.

The cedar waxwings seem to enjoy them. This year we had them nesting in our garden again and I saw a baby fledgling for the first time leaving the nest-alas,no camera.
Saint Francis garden statue watching over the birds in the garden.

Have a good day and thank you for visiting!

Going Mauve

                                                                  Hello everyone,
This year I planted some mauve gladiolas in the garden for late summer bouquets.
They are easy to grow and a bag of 35 was on sale for $2.
So I planted them in the vegetable garden. They are food for my soul!  "If I had but                                     two loaves of bread, I would sell one and buy hyacinths, for they would feed                                        my soul." - Prophet Muhammad
I am sure gladiolas are almost as good- although they do lack  the fragrance  of                                       hyacinths.

Hope your week is going well.

                                                                            Thank you for visiting!

Evening Reflections

                                                                      Hello everyone,
A few days ago after a rainy day the sun suddenly burst out and it was                                       perfectly calm and everything looked all sparkly from the rain. As luck would have it                             my husband had to go to the north shore so I happily jumped in the car with camera                             in hand to try to capture some of the beauty of the evening.
Some of you may recognize this as one of my favorite summer places- North Rustico.
                                                       Skimming across the water.
There were beautiful clouds in the sky as well as beautiful light.
All the fishing boats lined up perfectly in the harbour.
It is a charming little village.

This was along the way -such perfect reflection.

I was delighted to have this blue heron pose for me along the still waters.

I certainly enjoyed my little unexpected journey in the calm of the evening and hope you
didn't mind coming along for the ride.

Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn
