Our Winter Garden

Happy Weekend!

We have had some lovely winter days here this year so

when I saw we had a new coat of snow last night I

took a stroll through the garden with my camera.

Above, is our little Gardener's Cottage.

I didn't get all the way around the garden before it was

time to go for our morning walk hopefully there will be

time tomorrow but our temperature is taking a big dip

tonight so it might not be as pleasant so photography.

Brown & White Transferware

                                                        When we were down in Maine I
                                                        bought some beautiful old transferware
                                                        pieces and one of them was this old
                                                       brown and white transferware soup tureen.
                                                       It has a few cracks in it but I pictured it
                                                       with hyacinths etc. blooming in it so it
                                                       came home with me.

                                                          I love that little hint of spring with
                                                          hyacinths blooming indoors.

                                                         This tureen is larger then the one I just bought
                                                         and the old platter was one I had for a few years.

                                         I guess you noticed by now that I love transferware
                                                   in all shapes ,sizes and colors so whenever I see one
                                                   for a good price I happily grab it.

                                                      Today, is my husbands birthday so it is party
                                                      time here tonight as our family is coming for supper.

A Touch of French Country

                                                   I have been making a few changes in
                                                   our library/dining room. I think I mentioned
                                                   that I was making over some curtains that
                                                   I love from the thrift shop.They were really
                                                   wide so I cut them into smaller panels for
                                                   our windows.I also, moved the antique desk
                                                   to this window as well.The toile lamp is a
                                                   perfect match with the curtains.

                                             I found these beautiful french toile pillows as well.

                                                   This little cabinet/dresser was just moved from
                                                    the other side where the desk was ~it gives a little
                                                    more space for the chairs..

                                                         After all that moving and sewing
                                                         it is time for tea!

                                                                   

I am still tweaking this room as the

mantel isn't working for me and I

need to tidy my bookshelves a little.

Also, it is due for a paint job soon.

We use this small round table for  a

     romantic dinner with the wood fireplace

crackling but when we have our family

dinners this small table is replaced with

a long folding one see it here or here.

                                                 It was such a beautiful sunny winter day
                                                           here today with just a perfect amount of
                                                           sparkly white snow ~ quite a change from last
                                                           winter when it seemed to snow everyday.

                                                            Well,that's it for my French Country touches so far
                                                             but I will show you the finished project later.

Tulip Vignettes

                                                       I love when the tulips appear in
                                                      the grocery stores as it brightens
                                                      my day just looking at a cheerful
                                                     bouquet of them in our home.

                                                        I also love that they are grown right
                                                        here on Prince Edward Island by Vanco.

                                       I spent a good part of the day making over some
                                       curtains that I bought before Christmas at a thrift
                                       shop and doing some tweaking in our library.

                                                          Some early touches of spring color.

                             We got a little snow today and tomorrow promises to
                                       be sunny but colder.Hopefully, it will be a good
                                      photography day.
